The coral stone wall is a feature of Maldivian architecture that can be seen throughout most of the islands. However, since the ban on mining coral stone, less and less of these walls are to be seen. Most of the structures in tourist resorts were also previously built with coral stone. One of the resorts that has maintained its first structures and added onto it is Diamonds Thundufushi Beach and Water Villas. The new water villas in white complement the white, sandy beach around the island and were designed by Italian architect Mukethi.
